Dr. Semel is skilled at a wide variety of microsurgical techniques, from laser vision correction to complex retinal detachment surgery. Her fellowship training in the area of vitreoretinal disease has allowed her to develop highly refined surgical skills. She remains up to date on new macular degeneration treatments in order to improve the quality of life of her senior patients. She is also very active in athletic medicine taking care of both college athletes from USC and professional athletes in Los Angeles, CA.

LASIK is without a doubt a life changing procedure. When I first went to see Dr. Semel I was teetering on whether or not to have the procedure done, or simply follow through with another set of contact lenses. But after talking with Dr. Semel and her staff all fears were put aside. Bottom line, I was tired of dealing with contact lenses, the constant dry eyes, and more importantly that my vision was never quite accurately corrected with the lenses.

Of course there is always that trepidation in having any type of procedure, but the idea of seeing after having worn corrective lenses for 20 years, was just such a wonderful possibility to me that I had to take that leap… and it is absolutely one of the best decisions that I have ever made.

You will see, when you wake up that morning after the procedure, and you can look out the window and see the leaves on the trees outside without having to grab your glasses, it is positively amazing!
