Q&A: Should I have the surgery to remove the pterygium in my eyes?

Anthony,

A pterygium does not need to be removed if it is not interfering with your vision or your comfort level. It should be monitored because if it starts to grow to the center of your cornea it will not only interfere with your vision when it is removed it may leave a scar that can affect your vision.

Q&A: Will a clear lens extraction and a new plastic lens fix my inability to see distance as a result my previous laser surgery?

At this point, it is best to wait for a new technology called custom-cornea. All of the laser manufacturers are working on it. It will enable treatments of irregular corneas such as you apppear to have. A clear lens extraction will not help. Andrew Caster, MD

Q&A: Will a clear lens extraction and a new plastic lens fix my inability to see distance as a result my previous surgery?

You need to have a custom ablation guided by a wavefront analysis. This will b e comercially available later this year. Untill that time I would do nothing. Replacing the lens will not address the problems that have been created with the cornea. The problems need to be reduced or eliminated.

Q&A: What are epithelial inclusions and why not consider PRK in stead of LASEK or LASIK eye surgery?

PRK can cause scaring after RK, and inclusions are cells in the incisions. Hope that information helps.
