The Sclerotherapy Treatment

Sclerotherapy offers an alternative to surgeries, such endovenous laser treatment. During this vein treatment, your vein specialist injects a medication designed to treat both small and larger,bulging veins. Once your vein walls have been broken down, your vein closes itself, and the blood is redirected to other functioning veins. Your leg is placed in an elevated position to drain the blood, and your vein specialist then injects the solution directly into your vein using local anesthesia.

Some people do experience a slight burning sensation or cramping in the area where the injection is administered, and some veins do require several injections in order to break down completely. After your vein has been closed, you may be required to wear elastic bandages and compression stockings to help with your healing process. Another method to consider for smaller or spider vein treatment is laser and pulsed light treatment.
