Question:
Ok, me and my boyfriend have just started kissing and doing sexual activities. My pants have never came off but his hands have gone down my underwear and he has fingered me. He wasn't touching himself and then me at any time during we were making out. I did touch his penis. But I didnt touch myself after I had touched him. So, now ive been having this stingy pain in my vaginal area, and its really uncomfortable. I dont see any blisters. Is it possible that its just a irritation from being fingered (they were my first times) or does it mean i have Herpes? but i thought his penis had to TOUCH me to get it? please help me im really scared!
Answer:
Hi Ann....Well, the stingy pain may be from just being touched...Sometimes guys are a little rough and don't realize it...hopefully it's feeling better now. If not...keep an eye on it..if it continues you should visit a GYN for an exam...just to make sure everythings okay. I have a couple of really good websites that should answer your questions.... http://kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/index.html http://www.med.utah.edu/pated/handouts/handout.cfm?id=1335 http://www.medem.com/MedLB/article_detaillb.cfm?article_ID=ZZZBRRU487C&sub_cat=12 Good Luck, Julie Adinolfe RN

Question:
I went to a dermatogist about 8 months ago because in the last year and half I have gotten these small blisters on my fingers they itch and ooze a clear liquid then dry up and become scaly. These blisters move from finger to finger and the doctor I spoke with say that there isnt bacteria present and that this condition will never go away. She gave me some ointment and told me to keep my hands dry and moisterized. My question is what is this condition? How does one get this? Where does it come from? Is it true it is uncureable? Will it eventully take over my whole hands? What research is going on about this condition?
Answer:
Dear Denette, Although I can't make a diagnosis for sure by your description, it sounds like you have dyshidrotic eczema. It used to be believed that this was due to abnormal sweating and that the blisters were due to retained sweat but now we know that this isn't the case. However, we don't know what causes it. It can be made worse by everything that can make regular ecema worse such as harsh chemicals, too much washing/drying of the hands, sweat, etc. It is usually treated with potent topical steroids (For a description of these see my website at www.skinfo.com, click on skintopics and go to the section on psoriasis, topical treatments). In the past 6 months a new ointment called Tacrolimus (brand name Protopic) has become available which has helped many people with this condition. To say it is uncurable is a little harsh, but it does tend to be chronic which means it waxes and wanes over time. I am not aware of research being done on this topic, although that does not mean there isn't any.

Question:
On April 9,2001 I was at work and a burning torch that I was using blew up in my face.I suffere from 2nd degree burns on my face neck and chin.Since then I have developed some blisters and as of right now I feel like there will be some scars left behind and some skin discoloration as well. Before this I had no scars in my face and I was quite proud of that but now I will bare scars so I want them removed. Can you give me any advise?
Answer 1:
Dear Aretha, You should visit with a burn surgeon who will be able to tell you at this point if there is any permanent scarring. If there is, there are a great many things that can be done from surgery through to laser treatments in order to make the scars better.
Answer 2:
Dear Aretha, Since it is still early, (with the blisters still in place) there are several things you can do to minimize the scarring while the healing is taking place. These include types of dressings, sun avoidance, bleaching creams etc. But I would suggest you see a physcian versed in this area soon to make sure that you have as little scarring as necessary. In general, 2nd degree burns that cause blisters, do not leave scars but it depends on several factors. Best of luck.

Question:
I've had very strange episodes of huge (up to quarter-sized), liquid-filled, circular blisters that cover my body. Usually they will appear over the same areas. Each time with greater severity. They clear after a few weeks. I noticed there might be a correlation to having been given local anesthesia around the time of each of these episodes(dentist, dermatologist). How should I proceed? Could this be shingles?
Answer:
you need what we call a "work up" start with your family doctor and then an internist if need be

Question:
Hi, I went to the doctors four days ago about what I thought was an bacterial eye infection - I had red, saw eyes with a yellowish discharge more noticeable when I woke up. I had concluded it was bacterial because it started in my left eye and spread to both the following day. The doctor gave me some anti-bacterial gentamicin sulfate eye drops to use and I had thought they were working after the first two days because the discharge in the morning had been significantly reduced, but the third following morning my eyes had become a lot more red and saw, even thought they were discharging only a little. As far as I can remember I have never suffered this symptom with previous eye infections. Today they are even more inflamed, especially in the corners, and my left eye has got several blisters on the white bit in the corner, which are really painful and saw. I don't know if this has got to do with my left eye's history, because several months ago I damaged the corner by getting and insect in my eye on my bike when I was going fairly fast. When I put the drops in, it has really started to sting and I am reluctant to use them because it has become so painful. Please can you answer this e-mail because I can't afford another visit to the doctors, the last visit cost me 62 dollars because I am on holiday, (in Guam). Thank you James
