Question:
I am a male. Is it possible to have extra fat or tissue removed from directly under the nipple area, not the entire breast but just under the nipples so they don't pertrude out as much. Thank you
Answer:
Yes Sean, Although liposuction (ultrasonic) is useful for fat removal is gynecomastia, when the entire chest area is involved, there is often a small area under the areola (the dark area around the nipple) where there is true breast tissue, even in males. This required surgical removal and can be done with a scar that it hardly noticeable. Contact a plastic surgeon in your area for the details of this procedure.

Question:
I am a 21yr old male with breasts. they used to be hard but now they are just fat. Do i need surgery or can training reduce these? thanks
Answer:
Dear Luis, Certain medications, among them steroids, can make the breast more fatty in the male. Ultrasonic-assisted liposuction is an excellent means of reducing the size and contouring the male chest.

Question:
I am 19 years old boy with gynecostomastia, and I have had it for 4 years. When will it go?
Answer:
Dear Prince, I would also suggest that you visit with a surgeon who performs ultrasonic-assisted liposuction (internal and not external) since it is much more effective at treating this condition than is regular or tumescent technique liposuction.

Question:
Sir, I'm a 19 year old male, with a physical difformaty,(I believe it is anyway). I have very enlarged puffy nipples that stick way out and its hurting my self esteem and self image tremendously. What can I do about this. Thank you for your time.
Answer:
Dear Jeff, You have what is called gynecomastia and is very easily treatable with surgery. It involves making a small incision on the lower half of your nipple and with a combination of liposuction and some excision of tissue can give you excellent results. I would recommend that you see a plastic surgeon in you area. Good luck Josh Korman, M.D.

Question:
I had a breast reduction in January 2001. I went from an overflowing 40DD to a C cup. Prior to surgery I was told that some lipo is generally done given the shape of my breasts and where/how the reduction would be done. The lipo was to be done where the incision would stop beneath my arms and a small amount in the arm pit area itself. My reduction was covered by my insurance company since it was done for health reasons rather than cosmetic so the outcome causes me concern. Although the front of my breasts are noticeably smaller and are round for the most part, there does not appear to have been any lipo and there are rather squarish protrusions where my breasts previously began. Because of this shape, many bras don't fit properly and I am much more self-concious than I was before when they were too large and in the beginning stages of drooping. I am a bit overweight but was told it wasn't enough to warrant any weight loss pre-surgery so i'm concerned that they will be square even if I do lose weight. Is there anything that can be done now and if so, what procedure and what might it cost me? I am leery of returning to the doctor that did the reduction.
Answer 1:
It sounds like you could benefit from some additional liposuction. If you are not comfortable returning to the surgeon who did the first surgery, there are many excellent plastic surgeons all around. Good luck Josh Korman, M.D.

Answer 2:
Dear Cyndi, There are different ways of performing breast reduction surgery and those of us who do a lot of this type of surgery are very aware of the "boxy breast" problem which can result from the procedure being performed without this possible result in mind. It may be that liposuction alone will help the problem or that a revision of the outer portion of the reduction is required. I would suggest that you first revisit with the surgeon who performed the procedure and discuss these options with him/her. It may be that this was considered and that the breast may just need time to drop further to achieve a nice shape.

Question:
I'm about 50 lbs overweight and I am definitely getting a breast reduction. I was thinking about liposuction as well, now I knw lipo is not the solution for obesity but I've seen before and after pics of women who were larger than me and lipo really help them. There were great noticeable differnces. What is your opinion on this. Thank you in advance.
Answer:
Dear Tesha, Yes, liposuction can give great improvement to the body shape but it will not greatly reduce weight. Most of us feel that it should be limited to being performed on a few areas - for safety sake. There have been a number of deaths across the country due, in large part, to overly aggressive liposuction. Also, although for many people, liposuction can give a "kick-start" to weight reduction campaigns, it will not lead to the lifestyle changes that result in permanent weight loss and fitness.

Question:
Hello, I am a 34years old female. I would like to do plastic surgery or liposuction. I do not know the difference of this. Kindly explain this. How much the cost take this surgery. I want to do hip & stomach portion. thanks.
Answer:
Dear Meena, Liposuction is a type of plastic surgery. I think that what you are asking is if you need liposuction or a tummy tuck. The factors which enter into that decision are the amount of fat present, the condition of your skin and the condition of the muscle supporting the abdomen. You should visit with a plastic surgeon in order to determine if liposuction is a good procedure for you or if you need the more extensive surgery. Liposuction costs about $2000 per paired area of the body (like the outer thighs) and a tummy tuck can cost from $4000 to $8000 depending upon what is required to be performed.

Question:
I am considering some cosmetic surgery: probably a face lift and some liposuction, and perhaps laser resurfacing. How can I find out how to get prices and compare? Also, how do I find the most reputable cosmetic surgeons in my area? Is there a physician's referral service available? Thank you
Answer:
Dear Mary Ann, I would suggest that you visit either the ASAPS (American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons') web site first. From that point you should seek advice from several in your area. You may chose to have the different procedures performed by different surgeons. I would also suggest that once you decide on your surgeon, make certain that he/she has privileges to perform the procedures that you desire done at a local hospital - they check credentials and save you the trouble.

Question:
I had a face lift in 1995 and my physician also liposuctioned my face and around my eyes without my consent or permission. I weighted 100 pounds! After about three months I looked ugly with sunken cheeks, eyes and chin. I have heard of lipostructure or fat grafting. Do you know of any skilled doctor in lipostructure that you could recommend to me? I have even considered sucide. I am still depressed and on antidepressants. Help please. I wonder why medical students are taught in med school to destroy peoples faces by liposuction. This has been the worst experience of my entire life! Why is a "bad doctor" permitted to continue to practice medicine? J.W.
Answer:
Dear Joanne, I have answered your question previously but I would suggest that you consult with a psychologist in order to try to resolve your issues and continue on life in a meaningful manner. It is difficult to say why the miscommunication occurred and what went wrong but I would also suggest that, if you feel strongly enough about the matter, that rather than turning in on yourself, you seek retribution for your injuries.

Question:
WHAT IS THE MOST MODERN UP TO DATE PROCEDURE OF LIPOSUCTION?
Answer:
Dear Ruby, Internal ultrasonic-assisted liposuction is the most modern means of removing fat safely and with minimal discomfort, bruising or risk of uneveness. This is combined with a tumescent or super-wet approach.

Question:
I'm looking into lipusuction for my abdominal area. I've had 3 children, and while I'm back to 125 pounds, my excess skin and stretch marks are as unattractive as a huge pimple on my nose. Are there any surgeons in the Northern part of Alberta or Territories that can help me get rid of this unsightly skin?
Answer:
Dear Skinny, There are surgeons in your area although you may want to travel down to Edmonton or Calgary for those more experienced with cosmetic procedures. From your description, liposuction is not for you. You, rather, would be much better treated with a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) in order to remove the excess skin, tighten up your tummy muscles and remove the stretch marks. The down side is the scar that would be present. I would suggest a trip to central Alberta (I was born in Calgary) and consultation with a few plastic surgeons in the area before having the surgery done.
