Question:
Is it better to wait till after having children to have breast implants? Will the implants be altered by the pregnancy? Is it true that it can affect breast feeding?
Answer:
There is no reason of which I am aware to postopne breast augmentation until after having children. Pregnancy should have no adverse affect on the implants. Breast implants do not affect breast feeding. There is a theoretical concern that milk delivery to the nipple may be reduced if the incision to place the implant is made around the areola, since this incision may interrupt some of the ducts going from the milk glands to the nipple. Dennis Thompson, M.D.

Question:
hi i was wondering the price ranges for breast implants, also can this be financed through a doctor or hospital thanks amanda
Answer:
The total cost of a breast augmentation in determined largely be four factors: the surgeon's fee, the anesthesiologist's fee, the cost of the implant and the operating facility fee. Other factors include the surgeon's reputation, the geographical area, the place of service (office, free-standing surgicenter or hospital) and the implant type. I believe the range of fees to be between $3,000 and $10,000. Many plastic surgeons offer financing, you should inquire when you make your consultation appointment

Question:
I have spoken to a few doctors about breast augmentation and some of them use surgical drains and others don't. I was wondering what would be the reason to use them and also the advanteges and disadvanteges in the long run. If I were to get the breast augmentation sugery would it be to my advantage to go with a doctor who uses drains? Thankyou!
Answer:
I do not use drains. I never had. I'm not sure why they are used for this operation.

Question:
Should I wait until after my having another child (I'm 38 and have a 7mo old)before considering breast augmentation? I know I should be able to breastfeed, but I'm concerned about the "look" of the breast after childbirth after augmentation? I never got much bigger with the first pregnancy. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Answer:
If your breast did not change significantly with your previously pregnancy, they may not with a subsequent one, but there is no way to be certain. The change usually related to the development of excess skin and subsequent sagging if the breast becomes quite large during pregnancy and/or breast-feeding. Good luck Carmen Paradis M.D.

Question:
I AM A 20 YEAR OLD PRE-MED STUDENT. MY BREAST SIZE IS 44DD. TWO BIG HUGE, PAINFUL,SAGGING PROBLEMS. I SINCERELY WANT PERFECT SUPERMODEL, PLAYBOY BUNNY TYPE BREASTS. I WANT A REDUCTION AND IMPLANTS. MY QUESTION IS, CAN THESE TWO PROCEDURES BE DONE AT THE SAME TIME? HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? IS IT SAFE TO HAVE A REDUCTION AND IMPLANTS AT THE SAME TIME? WILL IT TAKE ME LONGER TO HEAL? ALWAYS, HEATHER
Answer:
It is very uncommon to do both a breast reduction (removal of breast tissue) and breast augmentation (adding volume to the breast by an implant) at the same time. You should see a plastic surgeon in consultation and explain what you wish to accomplish with the surgery. That way, a plan of action can be developed and you should be informed of the potential risks and complications of the operation, as well as the costs, recovery time etc.

Question:
I am wanting to know about breast enlargements.I am 20 years old and i have 2 daughters and a stable relationship with the father of my daughters.I do not like my breasts at all i feel that if they were enlarged and firmer i would feel more confident.I do not like the pink skin around the nipple being so big is there something that can be done about it.Or if i get a breast enlargement does that area become bigger as well.Hope to hear from u soon
Answer:
You may be a candidate for breast augmentation with saline-filled breast implants. It may also be possible to reduce the diameter of the areolae at the same operation. A consultation with a plastic surgeon would be necessary to determine of you are in fact a good candidate for the operation and to determine the size and location of the implant and whether the areolae could be reduced in size.

Question:
HOW IS PRICEING FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION DETERMINED
Answer:
Heres how I do it: My surgical fee, the anesthesiologist fee, operating room costs, nursing costs, and implant fees. The cost of consultation and follow up visits. There are certain fixed costs and variable costs. As you can see, there are many variables in determining the fees for surgery.

Question:
I recently had a breast augmentation and now I have a burning feeling where my arm meets my breast, I was told it was just the nerves but what do I do to make it better. Ice and rest is what I am doing now
Answer:
There is nothing much that you can do to make this go away. Time, which varies--the amount depends on the way in which the procedure was done--should take care of it.

Question:
I recently had breast augmentation surgery, I was curious if it is possible to reduce the size of the implant without having to get new implants. My doctor simply went to large creating an unnatural look. I had saline implants placed under the muscle. The procedure was done only 2 weeks ago. What is your opinion?
Answer:
Your breast may still be swollen--give them a little more time. If, after about 3 months, you still want them to be smaller, the only way to do that is by exchanging the implants. Good luck, Carmen Paradis M.D.

Question:
i am really considering breast implants. How much would it cost me and what are the pros and cons. Will i still have same sensitivities and also, will they still feel soft and real. i am a small B cup and would only like to increase to a full C. Please help me with these questions and concerns.
Answer:
Most women retain their sensatioon following breast augmentation, but it is possible that one may have some decrease in sensation or even total loss of sensation. Following breast augmentation, your breasts will probably feel a little firmer than before surgery. The most common complication following this surgery is the shrinkage of scar tissue which forms around the implant. If this occurs, the implant will feel firm and hard and the appearance of the breast may become distorted. This can be corrected by an operation to remove the excessive scar tissue. All of your questions can be answered for your specific situation completely at a consultation appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon. I hope this information is helpful to you.
