Question:
I had breast augmentation 2/01. It was planned that I would receive textured implants. After the surgery my Dr. advised me I had too thin of skin for textured. I requested my original breast size of 36D (after babies & weight loss I was a 36B). I am 40 years old. My main concern is that the implants look and feel rippled (all the way around), as though they are too large for the size I requested. It is as though there is too much material for the fluid amount. Is this possible?
Answer:
Be fair to your plastic surgeon and ask him/her what they think they can do to help you. I believe that the doctor acted in your best interest to give the best operation for you. Your questions are reasonable. Ask your doctor! We here have not examined you and it is easy to render an opinion as a "monday morning quaterback."

Question:
I have just moved to Ft. Lauderdale Florida and I am interested in breast augmentation. However, I have a curve in my spine and it has given me in general terms...a (pigeon breast). My chest is uneven and I am extremely embarassed of this. I have a small B cup breast and I want to enlarge them enough to have cleavage and to help make the uneven breast bone less noticeable. I need a plastic surgeon that is an expert on something like this.. Can this be done? How can I locate someone in the top of this field? I want someone that a celebrity would choose. I am not concerned about the cost. I just want the best surgeon that I can find. Please help! Sincerely, Brandee Toledo
Answer 1:
I have performed this operation on two patients just like you with excellent results, but you might want to try to find someone closer to your home, as I am in northern california Good luck

Answer 2:
I am empathetic. I have helped women in similar circumstances. My practice is in Boca Raton. Is it worth a trip to see me?
Answer 3:
Dear Brandee, I have seen a number of patients with your chest wall condition who have had severe problems after simple breast augmentation with the implants essentially joining in the middle. I would suggest that the chest wall deformity be evaluated first and, if correction is needed, that this occur with the implant procedure. I would suggest that you visit with a center of excellence such as the Mayo or Cleveland Clinics for this evaluation prior to visiting with a cosmetic surgeon for the implantation procedure.

Question:
I am 22 and I have extremely small breast I wear a 32 size bra but my cup size is smaller than an A. But training bras are to small around. I am the same size I was when I was 12. I have tried herbal forms but none have worked. I have also tried herbal estrogen and that also has not worked. I can't afford implants. I would like to know if there is anything I can take or do. I also would like to gain a few pounds but that also hasn't worked.
Answer 1:
There is no known way to increase breast size other than surgery. Unfortunately, if getting breast enlargement is what you want, you may have to save up money and have the procedure done when you can afford it.
Answer 2:
Dear Faye, There is no way other than breast augmentation surgery that is proven. There is a new suction device which may stimulate blood flow and marginally increse your bust size but my understanding is that this works best to make large breasts even larger. I wish that there was an easier way but, for now, implant surgery is the only sure way of increasing your bust size.

Question:
I recently read a article on a new system to enlarge your breats without surgery called the Bravo system I live in Maine and was wondering about finding out more about it and if there are any doctors that practice in it.
Answer:
Dear Cristie, This has been an attractive means of breast augmentation for centuries. It has never worked until this time and I doubt that many people will have much success with the system now. I do not know any reputable physicians who are promoting the product but I would suggest that you contact some local plastic surgeons who may know someone in your area who may be promoting the product.

Question:
I'm 25 female,my height is 4.10 and my breast are 32 inches I want to enlarge them upto 36 inches is that possible by cosmatic surgery.I've used heomopathic medicines, but could only increased them upto 2 inches [32].how much will it cost? Will I be normal forever[just like having natural breasts].Will I've normal sex[breast sucking etc? Any side effects?
Answer:
Dear Kiran, The increase in breast size from breast augmentation is in cup size and not circumference (this is measured below the breast in determining bra size). Certainly your breast size will be increased with augmentation surgery, however, your breasts will not be normal. It will not be like having natural breasts. Sensation is usually preserved although this cannot be guaranteed and, also, the ability to breast feed is usually maintained. Your breasts will feel and look different to you as well as to others. The cost is normally $4000 to $6000. There are very few side effects but I strongly suggest that you visit with a qualified plastic surgeon so that not only the good points about breast augmentation but also the bad can be fully discussed with you.

Question:
What are the alternatives to having under the muscle suregery for breast augmentation. Mine are over and are very rippeling I'm considering a lift???
Answer:
Dear Angela, Current breast implants are safe but often give an unnatural look as you describe. There are very few cures for this problem although placing implants behing the muscle gives more coverage and can help the rippling; the problem is that then they are in an unnatural position and often look and move abnormally. There are better implants currently being tested but it will likely be years before they are approved for use in this country. A breast lift (if you need it) can place more of your own tissue higher on your chest wall and may hide the ripples. I would suggest that you be examined and consult with a plastic surgeon in order to determine what is the best option for you.

Question:
what catagory does breast implants fall under?? also, if i get them and have a baby, can i breast feed?? will my breasts grow larger than they are after the enhancement??
Answer:
Dear Michelle, I don't understand category but the type of surgery is cosmetic or cosmetic plastic surgery. Most women with breast implants can breast feed since the ducts are not interrupted with the surgery. Your breasts will grow the same amount as they would have without implants in the event of pregnancy and, for most women, grow significantly with pregnancy.

Question:
I am considering having a breast lift/augmentation. I would also like to have liposuction on flanks(upper buttocks, lower back), my hips, lower abdoman and inner thighs. Is it safe or recommended to have these done at the same time? Would the recovery be unbearable? Thank you Kameron
Answer:
Dear Kameron, Not at all. The recovery from liposuction is very easy and that from breast lift almost as easy. Breast augmentation or coupled augmentation/mastopexy can by somewhat sore but as long as the liposuction is of a reasonable volume (meaning less than 2 or 3 liters) it could be safely performed at the same operative time.

Question:
One of my breasts is larger than the other, is there a way to even them out with out cosmetic surgery such as excercises?
Answer:
Dear Shannon, No that is not possible. Usually uneven breasts require either reduction of the larger one, enlargement of the smaller one, or some form of reshaping on each. There are also a number of breast deformities such as tuberous breasts which require special treatment. I know that the prospect of surgery is not great but I would suggest that you visit with a qualified plastic surgeon to discuss the options. This type of surgery often yields the most pleased patients we have.
