Question:
i have huge size breats for a guy and i was wondering what excersises i should try before i consider plastic surgery, and if there is anything else i can try
Answer:
Gynecomastia is enlargement of the male breast. There are a number of causes for this although it is usually idiopathic (unknown cause). You should visit with a medical doctor or endocrinologist to make certain that your hormonal status is normal. If it is, which is usually the case, the best available treatment is ultrasonic liposuction. Although there are no excercies or ways to spot reduce, overall weight loss (if you are overweight) will help. The ultrasonic liposuction is best able to handle the fobrous tissue in the male breast and works much better than regular liposuction in the treatment of this condition.

Question:
I live in VT and am looking at having breast augmentation performed in Montreal, Canada. What is the Canadian equivalent of being board certified in the U.S.? I'm having a hard time researching my doctor because he's in another country. Thank you!
Answer:
I am not sure. I think it is the Royal Society of Canadian Plastic Surgeons. WHy don't you ask your canadian surgeon himself/herself that question?

Question:
is it more expensive to get a lift along with a breast enlargement? and is it possible to do both at the same time?
Answer:
It is possible to perform a breast lift at the same time as doing a breast augmentation. The procedure is called a ptosis augmentation and is more expensive than a breast augmentation alone.

Question:
I am interested in breast implants. Before preganancy, I was a a 34C. Now I am a 32C, but my breasts just dont seem full. They do not sag, but are not firm. Is there a procedure that can be done to restore firmness and fullness without making me huge?
Answer:
From what you have described, it sounds like a modest-sized breast implant may restore some of your breast firmness and fullness - especially since you indicate that your breasts don't sag. Another method to restore firmness without placing implants is to do a mastopexy, but that procedure leaves significantly more visible scars than does a breast augmentation.

Question:
I am considering breast augmentation and I am not sure which shape of implant I want the anatomical(contoured) or the round. I am not sure if one is better than the other. If you could give your opinion I would appreciate it. Thanks Theresa
Answer:
It is a good question. It is one that you probably should pose to the plastic surgeon you want to do your surgery. Depending on his answer might help you determine whether you want him or her to perform the surgery.

Question:
Hi. I am considering breast augmentation. is it safer to choose an MD whom > limits their practice to cosmetic and aesthetic surgery rather than a MD who > is both a plastic surgeon and a surgeon? > > Jen >
Answer:
I think that you should check the credentials of the individual surgeon that you want to perform your surgery. All plastic surgeons are trained to perform all aspects of plastic surgery. The better question is to ask your surgeon why /she limits their practice to only cosmetic surgery. You might be surprised with their answers. The important questions you should pose are 1. Are they board certified and by what board? 2.. Did they complete an accredited plastic surgical training residency training program. Good luck!

Question:
Hi. I am seriously considering breast augmentation. I would like to know if ALL board certified plastic surgeons are able to perform the breast augmentation for me, or are there plastic surgeons specializing in this area. If so, how may I locate these surgeons specializing in breast augmentation? Jenny.
Answer:
Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, have had to demonstrate their ability to perform and understand a wide range of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, including breast augmentation. The www.plasticsurgery.org web site will specifically list the types of common procedures that individual surgeons perform.

Question:
Hello. I would like to know the best place of insicion for a breast augmentation, which limits the risks of a capsule contracture and loss of sensation in the nipples.
Answer:
Placement of the incision does not effect capsular contracture. Putting the implant under the muscle will reduce the likelihood of capsular contracture. An incision around the areoa is most likely to interfere with nipple sensation; putting the implant behind the muscle is also less likely to interfere with nipple sensation. Good luck Carmen Paradis M.D.

Question:
Hello, I am from Boston Massachusetts, are there any plastic surgeons in the area who specializes in breast augmentation? How would I find them? Is it safer for me to choose a doctor affiliated with a well-known hospital rather than their personal clinic?
Answer:
Many plastic surgeons in the Boston area would be well-qualified to do breast augmentation; whether they are affiliated with a hospital or are at a clinic probably doesn't matter. what does matter is that they be certified by the American Board of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons. To get a listing of those doctors go to www.plasticsurgery.org. Good luck Carmen Paradis M.D.

Question:
I am thinking of having breast augmentation done. I would like to go from a small 34B/C to a 34 D cup. I run for exercise and I'm wondering what you suggest for patients who have breast augmentation and run for exercise. Will I still be able to run? Will it be hard on my body and my new breasts? Will they sag if I keep running? Thank you for your time.
Answer:
Patients who run for exercise should continue to do so after their procedure, and should wear a good supportive jog/exercize bra. You may have some discomfort when you first return to running (around 3 weeks after surgery). Your breasts may "sag" whether or not you continue to run.

Question:
Which method provides a more natural looking breast in a breast augmentation? Placing the implant subglandular or submuscular. Why? Thanks.
Answer:
I don't think it makes a difference. The rippling that is sometimes seen in aline-filled implants may be less noticeable, especially in thin patients, if the implant is placed submuscularly. The tow major advantages to placing implants submuscularly is that the incidence of capsular contraction is less and mammograms are sometimes easier to read. Hope this is helpful. Carmen Paradis M.D.
