Eye Lid Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
68 year old, Female, Fair skin tone
This patient, from North Carolina, complained of excess upper eyelid skin. On examination of her eyelids and brow. She was noted to have assymetry of her eyebrows, with her right eyebrow higher than her left. This assymetry was a consequence of an droopy right eyelid. When someone has a droopy eyelid, the eyebrow will lift up in order for the eyelid not to cover the pupil. When looking at the eyelids, they look symmetric, but instead the eyebrow looks assymetric. If the eyebrows were relaxed, the right droopy eyelid would be more apparent (see the second set of photos Angle 2 as an example.)

Eye Lid Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Photos - Angle 1
Details: Frontal View (9 Days After Surgery)- Note the right eyebrow is higher than the left. Also, she had an assymetry in her excess eyelid skin. On the after photo, you can see the improvement in symmetry of the eyebrows and eyelids. The right blepharoptosis was repaired at the time of the upper eyelid procedure. I will post later postoperative photos, next time she comes back into town. Eye Lid Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Photos - Angle 2
Details: Frontal View- Both photos are before surgery. Note the eyebrow assymetry that I mentioned above. When I asked her to relax her forehead, the right droopy eyelid (blepharoptosis) becomes very obvious. The best time to repair the droopy eyelid is at the same time as the upper eyelid surgery. The plastic surgeon has to be looking for this assymetry to diagnose a ptosis (drooping) eyelid. Otherwise, they may just tell the patient to expect the same assymetry after surgery as before surgery, instead of repair the drooping eyelid. Eye Lid Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Photos - Angle 3
