Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
43 year old, Female
After considering a tummy tuck for many years, this 43 year-old woman made an appointment at Plastic Surgery Associates of Santa Rosa. She explained that she was dissatisfied with how her clothes fit and unhappy with the bulge in her lower abdomen. In her consultation, I verified that she was at a stable weight before evaluating her current shape and discussing her goals. Although most of her flabby look was due to significant excess skin and fat in both the upper and lower abdomen, she was also showing some looseness of her abdominal wall muscles. Together, we decided on a combination abdominoplasty and liposuction procedure to correct her loose muscles as well as the fat in her "love handle" area. At our plastic surgery center, we removed a total of 900 ml of fat during her dual tummy tuck / liposuction procedure. Liposuction, which we typically perform using a tumescent solution, was performed on the love handle area. The loose skin and muscles of her abdomen required special attention, so we performed an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) in which we removed the extra skin at her lower belly and tightened her abdominal wall. This patient enjoyed a typically smooth recovery and was almost immediately able to see her new, more flattering look. Excess skin no longer hid her naturally attractive curves and slimmer waistline. Overall, she has a much flatter, smoother-looking abdominal area and her love handles are in proportion with her new figure.
