Mr. Stuart is from Charlotte, North Carolina and came to our office for a second opinion and consultation regarding his worn teeth. He had seen some of the cosmetic photos on this website and was looking for a change. For as long as he could remember his teeth had been small, but he noticed that in recent years they had begun to wear down significantly. As you can see from the photographs, the teeth had worn down to about half of their original size. Many times this happens to individuals who grind their teeth, have acid reflux, or consume large amounts of sodas or acidic drinks. After the teeth wear down the bite starts to collapse and can make a person look older than they really are. Mr. Stuart was looking for a long term solution to his problem. The answer was to rebuild his bite and make the teeth look like they should for someone his age. The problem was not only cosmetic, but functional as well. To optimize Mr. Stuarts bite we used a thin lab fabricated splint which he wore for 2 weeks to make sure the TMJ was unaffected and he could eat and speak comfortably. To restore his smile we used 14 all ceramic Finesse brand crowns and 6 composite bonded fillings on his lower front teeth. He also had Zoom2! whitening. The result was dramatic and gave him a wonderful cosmetic result as well as a new, stronger, more comfortable surface to chew with. The cost for a procedure like this is approximately what some would spend on a small car, but unlike a car which depreciates over time, Mr. Stuarts smile adds value to his health and gives him a new found confidence.
