Judith came into our office with her husband for a consultation initially. She had heard from one of our other patients about the kind of dentistry we do. Judith was very upset about the condition of her mouth. Over the years things had just collapsed and negative earlier dental experiences along with ebarrassment kept her from seeing a dentist. Judith, like many people with similar circumstances was not comfortable in public. She avoided family gatherings, parties, shopping, even going to see her childrens teachers. Her husband was frustrated too. It is hard to be close to even the ones you love, when you are so uncomfortable with yourself. She held her hand up to her mouth as she told me the story I have heard many times before, about the emotional pain her teeth had caused her over the years. I knew we could help Judith, and so I encouraged her to schedule a visit for a full exam and x-rays. From there we gathered all of the diagnostic data necessary to develop a strategy to fix Judiths mouth. Judith's case was fairly comprehensive and required a long surgical procedure, but she had very little post operative discomfort and adapted almost immediately to her new teeth. It only took 2 visits to obtain the smile you see in her pictures. Now Judith feels like a whole person and actually enjoys interacting in public situations. She has gone back to school and already has a job waiting for her when she is finished. This type of dentistry is most rewarding for us because it changes peoples lives forever.
