Ms. D never liked the color of her teeth. She always felt guarded when she wanted to smile and when she would get caught up in a good laugh, it was like an instictive reaction to put her hand up to cover her smile. She decided to do something about it and did her research on veneers. She came into Ballantyne Center for Dentistry for a consultation and questions about porcelain veneers. She asked many questions about what type of materials were used, the longevity of the porcelain, what changes would I recommend, etc. After she felt more comfortable with what the procedure entailed, she wanted to proceed further. I recommended she return for a new patient experience. Meanwhile, we took a smiling photo, did a computer simulation of a before and after smile and sent it to her via email. When she returned for her new patient experience, she already had an idea of what her smile could look like. She mainly wanted to correct color. The shape of her teeth was already quite harmonius with her smile. It was recommended that eight porcelain veneers be placed on her upper teeth. After the preliminary impressions, photos, etc., she returned for the procedure. She could hardly believe how nice the temporaries looked with the uniformity of color. After about 4 weeks the temporaries were removed and the porcelain restorations bonded in place. At her routine 24-48 hour post op apptointment, she was so happy with the results. She now felt that she could laugh and show off her smile with no more reservations!
