Capsular contracture can be embarrassing, emotionally challenging, and visually displeasing. In capsular contracture, the body forms a capsule of living, tightly woven collagen fibers around a foreign body, in this case a breast implant. Capsular contracture is the most common complication of breast augmentation surgery, yet there is simply no way of telling who is going to have problems or when. However, risk of capsular contracture can be reduced with a more skilled and experienced surgeon, such as Dr. Pousti. The patient is 1 year post op and healing wonderfully.
