This patient desired larger more shapely lips. She has always had thinner lips, even when she was younger. I explained to her that if I tried to create an Angelina Jolie-type full lips on her that it would look very obvious and possibly look inappropriately large on her. I explained to her that she already had a nice definition to her lips, that a slight augmentation of the edge of her lips as well as filling some of the red portions of the lip would give her enough augmentation and definition,...

This patient wanted and improvement in her smile lines (nasolabial folds) as well as a conservative lip augmentation. Since her smile lines were not very deep, she would not use up all of the 1.0 cc Restylane, and she would have enough for a conservative lip augmentation with her smile line improvement. This set of After photos were taken immediately after the Restylane was injected before any significant swelling set in. The benefit of these types of injectable fillers is that you get a WYSIWYG...

This patient complained of having thin lips. She wanted to have an injectable lip augmentation. I do not like big, "done" lips. I prefer a more conservative lip augmentation. Restylane comes in both 1.0 cc and 0.4 cc. For women who want larger more shapely lips, I rarely need more than a 0.4 cc syringe of Restylane. If they have additional lip wrinkles, I would consider using the regular 1.0 cc Restylane. For women with nice shaped lips, and want a little definition, the 0.4 cc works for most...

This patient desired larger more shapely lips. I explained to her that she already had a nice definition to her lips, that a slight augmentation of the edge of her lips as well as filling some of the red portions of the lip would give her enough augmentation and definition, so that when she did put on lipstick, her lips would look more dramatic and pouty. She used the smaller sized 0.4 cc Restylane for her lips, which is less expensive than the 1.0 cc size. My philosophy for lip augmentation is...

This patient was bothered by a few small wrinkles on her upper and lower lips and also desired a slight lip augmentation. These lines are barely noticable to the casual observer, and I explained that to her. However, she was bothered by these lines when she looked in the mirror. We used the 0.4 cc Restylane, which is an adequate amount for her desires. The 0.4 cc is less expensive than the 1.0 cc Restylane, which makes it more cost effective for her to continue to do this periodically. ____...
