This is a 34 year old African-Amercian male from Columbus, Ohio who wanted plastic surgery (liposuction) to the abdomen (belly) and the sides (love handles). The plastic surgeon, Dr. Bivik Shah, at the Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery discussed all of the ways to do liposuction. This included Smartlipo ®, VASER ® liposuction, and classic liposuction. He chose classic liposuction, for the tiny micro-incisions, and fast recovery. During the liposuction, the plastic surgeon removed 2500 cc of pure fat, which is about 6 pounds of fat. The pictures are 4 months after surgery, so there is still some swelling after the liposuction and he will continue to get smaller for another 2 months.

This patient was suffering with excess skin that resulted after significant weight loss from gastric bypass surgery. He had lost 150+ pounds and had excess skin in his abdomen, back, and flanks (sides of abdomen). His abdominal muscles were also separated and stretched from carrying the excess weight. This patient was found to be a good candidate for a circumferential lower body lift (belt lipectomy / lower body lift) with rectus muscle plication (repair of abdominal muscles). Patient is very happy with his results. He says he now enjoys exercise and other physical activities, such as dancing with his wife, which were uncomfortable before.
