Eye Lid Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Female
53 year-old lady with excess skin of the upper and lower eyelids. The patient complains of others telling her that she looks tired, especially in the morning, when...in fact...she is not tired. The fatty pads that are evident in the lower lids collect fluid overnight and this gives the more "puffy" look at that time. As the day goes by, these fatty pads lose some of their fluid and the patient notices an improvement, albeit slight. Until the fatty pads are approached, the "dark circles" (which, in most cases, is just the shadowing effect of the pads) will continue to make a patient look tired. Note the brightness in the post-op views that is not in the pre op views. Note also that any asymmetry in the eyes preoperatively will be present in the post-op period.

Eye Lid Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Photos - Angle 1
Details: Note that the patient has asymmetric eyes prior to the surgery and has a slight asymmetry afterwards. It is important to point this out to patients so they will expect some asymmetry in the post op period. Much less tired appearance? Yes, for sure. |
