This 8 year-old male child from Indianapolis Indiana was born with most of his ear missing. (known as microtia) Reconstruction of the microtia ear is the most difficult form of ear reconstruction. Dr. Barry Eppley of Indianapolis Indiana performed four stages of ear reconstruction using the patient's own cartilage and skin to create the appearance of an ear.

Details: The objective of total ear reconstruction is to create the appearance of the five main elements of an ear; the helix, anti-helix, concha, earlobe and tragus.
