The vertical incision addresses excess tissue in the horizontal dimension while the lower transverse one takes care of the excess in the vertical dimension. Because this patient refused the vertical midline incision, I was forced to extend the lower incision around the hip-line onto the back. |

Both corrections (hernia/skin redundancy) were performed by yours truly. Mesh was used for the defect. The design of the abdominoplasty was a "Fleur de Lys" one, incorporating a vertical limb for excess skin along the horizontal dimension. |
