Cosmetic Surgery of the Body Before and After Pictures by Bivik Shah, MD

A Panniculectomy is a surgical procedure in which the excess skin and fat on the abdomen is removed. Not to be mistaken with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Here, only the excess skin and fat that hangs below the pubic area is removed whereas with a tummy tuck the muscles are tightened inside and the skin is pulled very tight to where it is difficult for patients to stand up straight for a week after surgery. Nothing was done to her muscles here to give her stomach a smooth appearance. If you compare this to the abdominoplasty patients, the difference is more prominent. This patient came to The Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery for a Panniculectomy. Dr. Bivik Shah performed the procedure. She is now much more pleased with her body and can wear the clothing she wants to! The after photo was taken 5 months after the procedure and the scar is healing very well. It will continue to heal over time and at her year and a half mark it will look the best it possibly can.
