This patient had previously undergone an "open" gastric bypass. The open procedure involves the vertical midline abdominal scar. In these patients Dr. Leedy will revise this scar at the time of the body contouring procedure. This allows him to take out an additional amount of circumferential skin to further the final body shape. If this scar however is not present initially because the patient had a laparoscopic gastric bypass (which is more common today) the Dr. Leedy does not create a new midline abdominal scar but rather redrapes the skin slightly differently in order to achieve a beautiful result.
