47 year old, Female, 124 lbs lbs, 5'4", Fair skin tone
This patient from Franktown, Colorado is a 47 year old nurse married to a physician who identified fellowship-trained Urogynecologist, Dr. Oscar A. Aguirre, for a 20 year history of painful sex. After addressing her pelvic floor muscle spasms with pelvic physical therapy she continued to complain of entry dyspareunia (pain with penetration). Her large labia minora and stricture at the posterior aspect of her introitus led Dr. Aguirre to conclude that years of labial pulling and dragging has resulted in this painful and chronic condition. Examination at 6 weeks, when thse photos where taken, was completely pain-free for the first time in as long as she can remember.

Labiaplasty Photos - Angle 1
Details: On the left the stricture, or banding, is clearly seen. Gentle touch to this area was always painful. On the right the revision of this area is still healing but it is clear that there is no further banding of the skin/posterior labia at the introitus.

Details: On the left there are long and dark labia. On the right you see normal small labia which are symmetric.

Details: Notice the redundant left prepuce on the preop photo. This was also present on the right labia. This is often seen in patients with labial hypertrophy.

Details: The labia minora protrude beyond the majora in the preop photo. Although cosmetic appearance was never an issue to her or her husband she now has a normal appearing vulva without the discomfort form labial hypertrophy. |
