LocateADoc Q&A
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
Seeing a patient through her mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and breast reconstruction and watching her be joyful as she shares her experience with other women going through the same challenge.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I have so many patients and several close friends who have fought breast cancer and won. I support them by supporting Komen.
What does living in the Lanham community mean to you?
Working in Lanham means having the best of both metropolitan worlds, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. We welcome patients from the entire I-295 corridor.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
Life is good.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
I enjoy the variety of procedures in plastic surgery and the importance of artistry in my field. Plastic surgery requires a balance of science and art that I find very satisfying. It also requires a sensitivity to the needs and expectations of the client; I think being a woman makes me especially suited to be a cosmetic surgeon.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
an Architect. For the exact same reasons I love being a Plastic Surgeon.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A happy patient and a happy surgeon.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Otoplasty. It is very satisfying to reshape ears. It means a world of difference to the patient.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
Ear reconstruction. The details of ear reconstruction are so much like sculpting it's fascinating! I visited with Francoise Firmin, a renown ear reconstruction surgeon, in Paris for two months and it was a true privilege to work with her.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I would live in Barbados and keep working as a plastic surgeon.
