LocateADoc Q&A
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
I treated a 55 year old woman who was a teacher at a local high school and tennis coach. She came to me for several cosmetic procedures including a facelift and tummy tuck. She felt transformed afterwards and had much more self confidence with her appearance. Afterwards she started receiving many awards for her teaching and coaching and attributed some of her success to the greater self confidence she gained after her cosmetic surgery
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
My charity of choice is my church, the Chinese Baptist Church. I believe that it serves its members well in nurturing their spiritual well being. It serves the community in its mission work in building homes for the homeless, feeding the hungry, supplying basic goods for people in need, and spreading the gospel with mission trips to different parts of the world.
What does living in the Houston community mean to you?
It means living in a large metropolitan area with many diverse people, many avenues of good food and entertainment, many outlets for sports activities, either to participate in or as fans, many good schools and institutions of higher learning for continuing education, many cultural events such as theater and music, good museums of art and science to visit, convenient transportation to other parts of the country or the world.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
God helps those that help themselves.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
I enjoy working with people and helping them to feel better about themselves.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
If I weren't a doctor I would be a scientist, discovering new things and applying knowledge to better people?s lives.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
I wanted to become a surgeon while I was in medical school which would be around 23-25. I found that I enjoyed working with my hands and I liked the quick results that come about from a surgical procedure properly performed.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
The perfect outcome of a surgical procedure is one where the surgeon felt that he did the best job that he could do and the patient is happy with the results of the surgery.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
My favorite procedure is breast augmentation because it is almost always performed on a healthy person and almost always they are happy with the results and feel better about themselves afterwards.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
I would like to perform more breast augmentations because there are relatively few complications and most of the patients are happy with the results.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I would probably like to retire sometime after my youngest child has finished professional schooling and started his practice. I would probably stay in the same area where I have lived but would like to spend more time pursuing my hobbies of travelling, playing golf, playing piano, reading, flying radio controlled airplanes, and enjoying future grandchildren that I presently do not have.
