Description: COSMETIC NON-METAL CROWNS INTRODUCTION The ladies in the office always look forward to dental visits with George. He came to our office with the six broken down Porcelain + Metal crowns. PRE EXISTING CONDITION These out dated crowns were canted at the center of his smile. The six old crowns were a different color verses his natural tooth color. This created a color contrast resulting in a pronounced dark area on both sides of his mouth i.e. “dark buccal corridor”. This is why the final treatment included 8 restorations. TREATMENT In order to correct the tooth alignment, pretreatment reshaping & provisional mock ups were completed. Moldable tooth-like material was bonded to the existing mal aligned crowns to center his midline and added to level and align his smile. Once the final tooth shape was approved gum lift was performed. Records were taken of these Mock ups, sent to a cosmetic dental lab, and the final all porcelain restorations were completed. CONCLUSION Cosmetic tooth like materials in the hands of a trained cosmetic dentist are used to recreate a patient’s smile before work begins. This is essential for patient communication and to achieve the ideal cosmetic results. Look close at the natural look of the crowns and the perfect health of his gum tissues. Only AACD Accredited Cosmetic Dentists are trained and tested with moldable tooth like materials used to fabricate direct resin veneers.
