Case: 5360 Category: Breast Lift Surgery Age: 56 Gender: Female Skin Tone: Fair Description: This patient is a 56 year old female who underwent placement of bilateral silicone breast implants in 1983. Both implants were replaced with new silicone breast implants in 1989 due to the development of scarring around the silicone implants. The patient recently visited New Reflections Plastic Surgery complaining of some sensations in the region of her right silicone breast implant. She requested the removal of both of her silicone breast implants based on her sypmtoms and the age of her implants. Mammogram imaging did not reflect any compromise of her implant integrity on either side and the patient declined furhter imaging. Specifially, she declined an MRI, even though the MRI appears to be the best study to determine implant integrity. The patient was very clear; she wanted both implants removed because she did not want to have to worry about silicone breast implant rupture. She chose to have a bilateral breast lift at the same time as the implant removal. The patient is now in a 36 B cup bra; a decrease in her size from a 36 C after implant removal. She indicates that she is very happy with her result. |
