Case: 12000 Category: Face Lift Surgery (Rhytidectomy) Age: 53 Weight: 150 lb Height: 5'8" Gender: Female Skin Tone: Medium Description: This patient's main concern was regarding the lower portion of her face and neck. She felt that she was losing her chin, and had some sagging of the jawline (jowls). She also had concerns regarding her upper eyelids. She felt that she had excess upper eyelid skin that was hanging and touching her eyelashs. On further examination, she had assymetry of her upper eyelids and eyebrow. She also had hollowing of her left upper eyelid which she did not have on the right side. She had a upper blepharoplasty with fat grafting to her left upper eyelid. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I will post a separate discussion under the Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) section to discuss my philosophy on upper eyelid surgery and fat grafting to improve hollowing of the upper eyelid. |

Details: Close up of the Front of the Ear, Before Surgery and After Surgery. The incision in front of the ear can be placed behind the ear cartilage or in a wrinkle in front of the ear. I look at three factors in deciding whether to place the incision in the wrinkle in front of the cartilage (Pre-tragal incision), or behind the edge of the ear cartilage (Post-tragal incision). The three factors are: 1) the prominence and angle the ear cartilage (the tragus) protrudes from the side of the face, 2) the location of the wrinkle in front of the ear, and 3) the quality of the skin in front of the ear. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I will post a separate set of close up photos of my facelift incisions to help explain why the incision in front will work better for some patients and the incision behind the cartilage will work better for other patients. | |
