Many patients have been presented with 'normal' equipment often to face humiliation, stress and possible injury that can result when they try to use the equipment. Equipment caliber however, is not the only concern in regards to our patients. Staff training and education in the use of the specialized equipment is essential.

Our facilities cater to the patient’s needs in an environment that is conducive to positive patient outcomes. Equipment has been sized properly for the patient population, with wider doors and larger furniture so that the morbidly obese patient feels welcomed in the environment.
All staff members are sensitivity-trained in obese patient care. “If obesity was the result of one cause, we could have an effective treatment for it. However, there are multiple causes. So whether it is a patient’s emotional needs, environmental needs, physical needs or psychological needs, our staff is prepared,” Guidry says.
