IntraLASIK software directs the laser to optically focus its beam into a tiny, 3 micron spot of energy that passes harmlessly through the outer layers of the cornea until reaching its exact focal point within the central layer of the cornea. The laser beam creates a dissection plane inside the cornea by forming a interconnecting series of bubbles. The flap is made leaving an uncut hinge on the side and the surgeon folds the tissue back and uses the excimer laser to reshape the central cornea.

Clinical studies show that approximately 90% of patients receiving this technology never, or only occasionally, need to wear glasses. There is an additional cost for having these new IOLs implanted.
