Ideal Candidate: Trabeculectomy may be needed as a surgical alternative to help stabilize progressive or uncontrolled glaucoma. The first line of treatment for glaucoma is either medical therapy with prescription eyedrops or laser treatment. If a patient's glaucoma continues to worsen with maximal medical/laser treatment, then surgical "filtering", also known as trabeculectomy, may be necessary to prevent further loss of sight. Dr. Emilio Justo is a pioneer in laser blepharoplasty in the Phoenix area, having performed more than 10,000 blepharoplasties.
