Therapy is an opportunity to grow.
I have been a psychologist for 26 years. I feel that the relationship between the client and myself is important for change to occur. Therapy is an opportunity to grow, to rid oneself of problematic behaviors but at the same time to learn to value and accept yourself.
Besides working with individuals, I help couples and families learn how to communicate better and resolve issues that are causing stress and anger.
I work with people who have depression (including postpartum), anxiety and panic, post-traumatic stress issues, anger management difficulty, poor self esteem and difficulty coping with change. For those with physical illnesses, I help them accept and learn to continue to live life to the fullest.
Research has shown a strong connection between the body and the mind and learning the relaxation response is helpful in calming both. Often times, the acting out that a child or teen is doing is their way of communicating that something is bothering them. I see children 5 and older.
My office is conveniently located in downtown Erie in the Renaissance Centre. Being in a solo practice allows for privacy in the waiting room. My office is casual and comfortable which helps my clients feel more at ease than in a formal, clinical setting.
