Dr. Charles Wingo completed a spine surgery fellowship in Louisville and then chose a private practice in Tallahassee, Florida. He has worked in Tallahassee continuously since 1985.

Dr. Wingo specializes in motion preservation surgical treatment for degenerative disc disease in the cervi cal and lumbar spine. If motion prevervation is not appropiate by virtue of instability or deformity then a mimimally invasive fusion procedure will be recomended by Dr Wingo. In the cervical spine Dr Wingo would choose a Synthes Pro Disc C arthroplasty over anterior discectomy and fusion; but an excellant result can be achieved by a zero profine anterior fusion construct. In the lumbar spine Dr. Wingo would prefer a Synthes Pro Disc L arthroplasty over a fusion.However, an anterior interbody fusion will decompress the neruoforamen and free the spinall nerve roots as well as providing a stable platform. A Synthes N-Hance posterior dynamic stabilization is an alternative to arthroplasty and rigid fusion at one level if a tall disc has been preserved.
