Alan Brown, O.D., FAAO specializes in pediatric and adult medical eye care and sees patients at our Gwinnett office. A Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1985, he joined the medical staff of Thomas Eye Group and Pediatric EyeCare in 1998. Dr. Brown is certified for CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy). He performs eye exams, diagnoses and treats medical eye problems and provides contact lenses to adults and children. He enjoys treating corneal disease, helping his patients avoid potential eye problems, and advising his patients about their options among glasses, contact lenses (including bifocal contact lenses), CRT and LASIK refractive surgery.
Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland. He received his bachelor's degree in physiological optics and Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama/Birmingham (UAB) Medical Center School of Optometry. He has practiced in the Atlanta area since 1983 including Atlanta Medical, a 45-doctor multi-speciality group from 1991-1998. His specialities there include the management and treatment of keratoconus and glaucoma.
Dr. Brown is an adjunct facility member for the UAB and UMSL Schools of Optometry, supervising externship training for senior students at the Gwinnett office. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Brown has recently become a founding board member of Good Samaritan Gwinnett, a private Christian medical clinic serving Gwinnett county, and serves as an elder at Perimeter Church in Duluth. He and his wife have three children and one grandson. |
