Dr. Woodlief obtained his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He then completed a fellowship in retina-vitreous surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida. He joined Wolfe Clinic in July 1984. His current practice emphasis is on cataract and refractive surgery with particular interest in LASIK surgery for both nearsightedness and farsightedness. |

Throughout his career, Dr. Graether has been involved in the advancement of surgical techniques, especially in cataract surgery. He was the first in Iowa to perform phacoemulsification of the lens (small incision cataract surgery) in 1972. He also was one of the first surgeons to develop the technique for opening the lens capsule in a continuous linear tear, which is the basis for modern implant surgery. General ophthalmology, specializing in refractive surgery and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, cornea, and other ocular disorders. He joined Wolfe Clinic in April 1962. |
