Dr. Arrowsmith is the Founder and Medical Director of Arrowsmith Eye Institute, the Eye Surgery Center of Middle Tennessee and the Eye Research Foundation. Both Arrowsmith Eye Institute and the Eye Surgery Center of Middle Tennessee have been granted the highest level of accreditation by the AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare, Inc.).
Clinical research has been a large part of Dr. Arrowsmith’s training. He has written extensively about his research in the area of refractive surgery, and is a grant recipient from the National Eye Institute Study. He is one of a select number of surgeons in the United States chosen as an FDA investigator for advanced study of refractive surgical procedures. Dr. Arrowsmith is currently conducting several FDA clinical trials.
Peter N. Arrowsmith, M.D., is devoted exclusively to refractive surgery. His areas of expertise include Laser Vision Correction (PRK, LASIK and LASEK) using the Allegreto WaveLight excimer laser providing bladeless LASIK with the Intralase flap laser. He is the only Intralase certified proctor in the Southeast United States able to teach other surgeons the bladeless procedure, and the Verisyse Implantable Lens. He also has experience using the Summit Apex laser for both PRK and LASIK and is certified on the Nidek EC 5000 excimer laser. He performs refractive cataract surgery, often using specialized multifocal and astigmatic implants. This helps cataract patients to achieve freedom from glasses.
