| Dr. Schlichtemeier was the first ophthalmologist in Nebraska to do epikeratophakia and keratomileusis. He learned keratorefractive surgery (the forerunner to LASIK) in 1981 at the Jules Stein Eye Institute with Dr. Elander, Dr. Villasenor. Dr. Krumeich and Dr. Barraquer. He is one of the first ten surgeons in the world begin doing epikeratophakia in 1982 with quite good results. He studied Radial Keratotomy at the Dean McGee Eye Center with Dr. Jim Rowsey and Dr. Jim Hayes and has been doing RK since 1983. |
