About Eye Physicians & Surgeons of Augusta - Augusta, Georgia (GA)

"The staff at Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Augusta is the best," says Bobbie McLaughlin, Practice Administrator. "Each person belongs to a specific team whose function is vital to this practice. Our staff members are handpicked and they are all the best at what they do. Each of us is dedicated to providing quality Ophthalmic care to our patients." "We all came from smaller offices where there was an air of 'family' among the staff members and our patients. This was something we all vowed to keep when we merged four practices in 1999. I am happy to say that we have not lost that 'family atmosphere', our family just got larger."

Bobbie McLaughlin is clinically certified by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology at the highest level, Ophthalmic Technologist (COMT). Additionally, she is certified by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators as a Certified Ophthalmic Executive (COE). "The physicians here are extremely loyal to the staff. They encourage us to grow and to learn each day. Each physician is different from the others, and their personalities mesh well. It is a pleasure to work for such a wonderful and supportive group of physicians."

Assisting in the Administration of the practice are Jennifer Morris, Assistant Administrator,Certified Medical Office Manager; Tina McFatridge, Accounting Manager, Certified Public Accountant; Debbie Stevens, Accredited Payable Specialists, Administrative Representative, and Jeri Farley, Professional Human Resources. "This group is amazing. They are always by my side to lend support and help in the day to day running of the practice," said Bobbie McLaughlin. The Front Office staff members assist you when you call for appointments, greet you with a smile when you come in and help you with your insurance and financial arrangements when your appointment is finished. They answer all of the incoming calls and maintain the patient medical records. Elizabeth Cofer, the front office supervisor, is always there to personally help anyone with a specific request or concern.

"Our physicians are on the panels of all of the major insurance companies. We have an excellent Insurance and Patient Accounts Department with dedicated and knowledgeable staff members who work hard to see that our patient charges are filed timely and accurately to their insurance companies." The Technical Staff of Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Augusta is made up of a group of highly trained technicians who assist the physicians by taking histories from the patients, performing diagnostic tests and preliminary clinical measurements prior to the physician seeing the patient. They also assist in minor in-office surgeries. "The majority of our technicians are certified by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. All of our technicians are thoroughly trained not only in Ophthalmology but each one is also certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation," said Bobbie McLaughlin. "Thankfully, we have never had to call upon this training."
