Laser Vision Correction (LASIK)
Laser vision correction procedures reshape the front of the eye to obtain clear focus in patients who are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism. Dr. Steinberg was formally trained in residency by one of the pioneers in the field. Dr. Steinberg is certified in performing laser vision correction with the VISX Star S4 and can offer patients the latest in vision correction technology including the Customvue personalized laser treatment. He personally performs tests and measurements of the eye prior to the procedure and carefully analyzes each person to make sure the outcome will be as successful as possible.
The procedure is performed at the TLC laser vision center in White Plains with the assistance of an experienced staff and the most advanced instrumentation. As a successful LASIK patient himself, Dr. Steinberg understands the satisfaction of clear, spectacle free vision. If you are interested in reducing your dependency on glasses or contacts, please arrange a personal consultation with Dr. Steinberg to find out if you are a candidate.
Advanced Cataract Surgery
Cataracts are a cloudiness of the lens which causes blurred vision and glare. Most cataract patients are excited to regain lost vision and are quickly able to return to reading, driving and other visual activities. Dr. Steinberg performs the most advanced technique of topical, clear corneal cataract microsurgery. This no stitch, no shot, no patch procedure is generally performed in about 15 minutes as an outpatient. Dr. Steinberg now offers the Restore lens implant which can give clear distance and reading vision without glasses. This state of the art surgery is conveniently offered at the Hudson Valley Center at St. Francis in Poughkeepsie.
Restore Lens Implant
The most advance lens implant technology currently offered includes the Restore multifocal lens implant. This lens’apodized diffractive technology allows for clear focus at distance and near. Patients who receive this lens implant as part of their cataract procedure find that they can function without glasses most of the time. Ask Dr. Steinberg and his staff if you would be a good candidate for this exciting technology.
Toric Lens Implant
Many patients have long suffered from blurred vision due to astigmatism, an abnormal shape of the Cornea. For patients with cataracts and coexisting astigmatism, this advanced lens technology may reduce or eliminate their astigmatism once and for all. Please ask us for more information on this implant option.
Glaucoma
Dr. Steinberg places great importance on detecting possible glaucoma in every patient he examines. Those who have signs of the sight stealing disease are tested with nerve fiber layer analysis and computerized visual field testing.
Diabetic Eye Care
Sometimes diabetes can be diagnosed just by a careful examination of the eyes. In patients who have already been diagnosed with diabetes, retinal problems can threaten vision loss. Timely laser treatments can help to prevent blindness in diabetics. Dr. Steinberg is experienced in treating diabetic eye disease and performs laser surgery in the office with his argon green laser.
Pediatric Ophthalmology
Dr. Steinberg recommends a first eye exam around age three and a half. Sometimes a "lazy eye" problem can be detected at this early age even when the eyes are not crossed. Pediatric Ophthalmology and the treatment of eye muscle problems has always been a focus of his practice. As a father of young children, he understands the special needs of children with eye problems and patiently attends to them. Dr. Steinberg enjoys providing comprehensive family eye care including contact lens services. |
