Dr. C. Diane Song is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Emory University. She is on staff at The Emory Eye Center, the largest, most comprehensive eye care facility in Georgia. US News and World Report, a leading news journal, ranks Emory as one of the top twenty eye centers in the country. Dr. Song specializes in refractive surgery and the medical and surgical treatment of corneal diseases. She serves as the Director of Cornea Service for the Veterans Hospital as well as Ophthalmology Director for the Emory student health service.
Dr. Song grew up in Georgia and graduated with highest honors from Emory University, where she also received her medical degree. She completed her ophthalmology training in Chicago, at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and was selected as chief resident. She completed a fellowship in refractive surgery and cornea-external disease at the Shiley Eye Center at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Song is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She has been performing LASIK since 1999.
As a leading practitioner in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Song has published numerous journal articles and presented her research work at several national ophthalmology meetings.
Her dedication to helping others is shown in her experience in pediatric corneal transplants along with her efforts in volunteering for surgical missions throughout the world. She has traveled to India, Mexico and Ethiopia in order to perform eye surgeries in these underserved areas. She is on the Fight for Sight Committee, which awards grants to groups, which are conducting innovative vision research.
Dr. Song’s warm demeanor and sincere approach to all is greatly appreciated by her patients. Individuals who are unsure or worried about a procedure are reassured by her calm and gentle manner.
