Dr. Clinch is also actively involved in clinical trials for the development of new procedures and techniques to further the field and to ensure that he is offering the best and safest technologies to his patients. Dr. Clinch is proud that the CustomVue software is his standard of care. With the CustomVue software, Dr. Clinch creates a customized treatment plan unique to each patients’ eyes. Much like a fingerprint, no two people have the same eyes—and with the CustomVue software, no two patients receive the same treatment. As a result, many patients report having better vision after having LASIK than they did with glasses or contact lenses!
Dr. Clinch also offers his patients the safety and precision of Intralase. Intralase, or all-laser LASIK, uses a precise laser to lift the corneal flap. Tiny bubbles are created with the laser under the outer cells of the cornea. These cells coalesce and create the flap for the surgeon. The Intralase is less invasive, more precise, and creates a more uniform flap when compared to the microkeratome. In addition, preliminary studies show that patients who opt for the Intralase see better than those who opt for the microkeratome!

Dr. Clinch graduated from Cornell University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the renowned Wills Eye Hospital and a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Louisiana State University Eye Center. Dr. Clinch served in the U.S. Navy as the head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune. Afterward, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Utah where he was the Director of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Services. He was one of the first LASIK surgeons in the US and was involved in FDA clinical trials for most refractive surgical procedures (PRK, LASIK, INTACs, Phakic IOLs, Intraoperative Minature Telescopes, and Intracorneal inlays). I had a -3.50 glasses prescription and now I'm glasses free! Dr. Clinch and the Eye Doctors of Washington changed evrything. LASIK was a cakewalk and I'm thrilled.
The procedure was fast. I was in and out in 7 minutes! There wasn't pain either, just a little pressure, about as much as I feel in my fingers if I snap.
What I didn't expect was a windfall of confidence. On the way home after surgery I could read the street signs. When I stood at my window, I was able to see the leaves on the trees swaying in the wind.
