Trabeculectomy may be needed as a surgical alternative to help stabilize progressive or uncontrolled glaucoma. The first line of treatment for glaucoma is either medical therapy with prescription eyedrops or laser treatment. If a patient's glaucoma continues to worsen with maximal medical/laser treatment, then surgical "filtering", also known as trabeculectomy, may be necessary to prevent further loss of sight. Yag Laser Capsulotomy Post Cataract Surgery

The YAG Laser is used to vaporize any clouding which commonly develops on the back surface of the lens implant used during either fast-focus cataract surgery or refractive lensectomy. A high percentage of patients may develop this clouding from 6 to 24 months after the initial surgery, thereby causing some blurring of vision (oftentimes described as though the cataract was returning). The YAG laser treatment takes less than one minute and is performed in our outpatient ASC without any downtime.
