Dr. Riley earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Biology, from Linfield College, McMinville, Oregon. Dr. Riley was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force through Officer's Training School, and matriculated at the University of Tennessee, School of Medicine, earning an M.D. in 1972. After a straight medicine internship and flight school, he served as director of Hyperbaric Medicine, and clinical commander through several assignments. Dr. Riley completed a 3 year dermatology residency at the University of California, Irvine and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology in 1982. He also served as Chief of Dermatology at David Grant Medical Center, where he was an assistant professor, Department of Dermatology, University of California Davis. After he retired from the Air Force as a Colonel, Dr. Riley entered private practice in Dermatology, and began to perceive the future of Dermatology as a meld of traditional medical and surgical dermatology and medical cosmetic procedures. Thus, the concept of Aistheta, from the Greek derivative for both aesthetic and anesthetic.
