    LocateADoc.com Insider

    An inside interview with LocateADoc.com

Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
A shy, inhibited and diminutive man who always wore a ball cap to cover up his bald head returned about a year after I performed a hair transplant on him. He wore no hat and actually let his new hair grow long, sporting a well trimmed pony tail. He looked confident and was transformed by the hair transplant. He told me that I changed his life and was so pleased he had hair restoration with me. He attributed his promotion at work and the new love in his life to the hair transplant. He couldn't thank me enough, repeatedly saying that I "changed his life"!

What is your favorite quote or saying?
"When the going gets tough the tough get going."

What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
Having experienced hair loss and having had hair restoration myself, I can empathize with my patients with hair loss. I also optimize the nonsurgical modalities in the treatment of my own hair loss; I use Propecia, Rogaine and low level laser and educate my patients about their importance. Having received specialized training for a year as a Fellow in hair restoration surgery I offer the latest approaches in the treatment of hair loss for men as well as women of all ethnicities.

When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
As I rotated though the clinical specialties in my last 2 years at the New Jersey Medical School, I decided to pursue surgery. To me it was and still is the most interesting as well as the most exciting discipline in medicine!

Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A perfect outcome is a very satisfied patient who I've done an exceptional procedure on who has gotten an exceptional result.

What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Larger transplant sessions give more dramatic results. My favorite hair restoration procedure is a mega session, where I transplant 3,000-4,000 grafts in a single session.

What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
I'd like to perform more eyebrow and eyelash transplants. These procedures are only performed by the minority of hair restoration surgeons. They are demanding procedures and these patients are more difficult to come by than patients with scalp hair loss.
