THE DOCTOR'S PHILOSOPHY

Dr. Smith takes great pride in his staff and the quality of care provided. Dr. Smith feels strongly that his primary obligation is to be your physician first, and then your plastic surgeon, always making your best interests paramount. He listens to the patient to understand what he/she wants, and then determines not only the best way to achieve that goal at the minimum risk, but also if to do so is in the patient's best interest. It is not uncommon for Dr. Smith to turn down a patient when he thinks the request is unlikely to meet a patient's unrealistic expectations or if he thinks the timing is not suitable, such as when a prospective patient is in the midst of a personal crisis.

Dr. Smith says, "The adage 'First of all, do no harm' should be especially true of plastic surgery. It is my goal to improve the patient's appearance by enhancing the natural beauty that is within each individual, not to try to totally change them (which is impossible anyway). The best result is the one that keeps the observer guessing but unable to tell that the patient has had plastic surgery.

We always seek to achieve the best possible result with the least possible risk. In other words, I consider the work I do and our commitment to the patient a solemn duty."
