Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
The most rewarding was a scalp reconstruction of a then 12 year old burn patient who lost 2/3rd of his hair. I a performed 3 tissue expansion (scalp stretching) procedures and along with hair grafts, he now has an normal looking head of hair. I saw him last year, 6 years after surgery, as a grown man, leading a normal life with a normal looking head of hair.
What does living in the Oakland community mean to you?
I could not think of a better place to live climate wise, with a broad social and intellectual atmosphere with such diverse cross cultural population.

When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
At age 26. My experience in Vietnam as a partially trained Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon handling very difficult problems
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Hairline Lowering. The results are instantaneous and can be completed in under 2 hours.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
I enjoy all aspects of surgery for enhancing facial appearance.
