We have day and evening hours, six days a week, work with many insurance plans and have reasonable fees.
We treat individuals, couples, families and children for problems ranging from depression and anxiety to addictions, relationship conflict and life crises. The unique benefits of my practice are my training beyond university level education as a therapist. I went to university in NYC, for undergraduate schooling at Fordham University and then for graduate schooling at Columbia University, and received the PhD at New York University. The training that went beyond these schools was at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, also in NYC, and it was there that I received NYC Certifications in Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis (contemporary psychoanalysis), and in Marriage/Couples Counseling. This was an additional 4 more years training. While at NYU, one of the professors suggested I publish the essays I was presenting on psychotherapy/psychoanalysis and in 2000, my book was published: Deepening Intimacy in Psychotherapy. I'm happy it's still in print.
My private practice in NYC was wonderful and I loved my patients and was truly upset when I moved from NY to AZ and so kept many of these patients on Skype (kept my NYC licensure, as well). I opened a practice in Sedona, AZ, in 2009, after leaving NYC (left there to marry a man living in Sedona) and have had the time of my life treating the Sedona patients who are such a joy to me. They often refer to me as a 'full service therapist' which I think is so endearing of them.
Over time, though, I began to feel isolated from colleagues. In NYC, I was surrounded by colleagues and that was lucky, but in Sedona, it was more difficult because it's such a small town. So, I began a practice in Phx (in addition to Sedona) and every week I drive 'down the hill' to Phx to see my Phx patients. I am so lucky to have the patients I have and to find colleagues, too. As a result, one of my Phx colleagues and I decided to co-found a Society so that we could bring in all the great Speakers on psychology to the Phx area. We founded the Arizona Psychoanalytic Society in 2010 with a mere 25 members. Now, just a few years later, we have more members than we could ever have imagined and we put on psychology presentations nearly every month and the people/colleagues who come are extremely supportive. We also have become a chapter of APA, Div 39 and as such we can provide continuing education credits for our 'salons.'
One last note on this: A few of my patients have begun attending our psychology salons and they love it - they feel excited by the topics and that they have an opportunity to learn about psychology and about human-kind and about how creative the mind is and how wonderful relationships can be when we consider who the other person really is, and who we ourselves are - in relationships. It doesn't get better than that.

What if your life didn't have to be one big stress?
What if you could stop self-sabotaging behaviors, end those debilitating patterns that keep
repeating over and over again and finally find some peace? What if you started to imagine
living a life filled with hope instead of one hobbled by self-doubt and pain?
My practice is called "Finding Strength Within" because I believe therapy is a powerful process
which can lead you to a place of self-acceptance, understanding and ultimately, greater
relationship happiness and life success. As a former coach of Olympic athletes, I have a
particular perspective on finding and developing a solid self as the basis for healthy
I generally approach therapy by looking at the unconscious processes at the root of emotional
pain. I also look at the influences of environmental, biological and psychological elements of
early relationships and link those experiences to current issues so that you can increase awareness
and ultimately, make new, healthier choices. I let you come to your own decisions and
awareness in your own time. I am not a "head nodder," however, I do give feedback and
will work collaboratively with you on a treatment plan from the first session.
If you are ready to move beyond suffering the debilitating pain and repeating patterns that
rule your life, I am ready to help you. By finding strength within, you will face each new
challenge with renewed strength, emotional flexibility and joy. I look forward to working with
you on your journey towards mental health.

We are most vulnerable at times of illness. Proper psychiatric care is a powerful tool to assist us to regain our health at such times. Unfortunately, misunderstanding and stigma prevent many from seeking help at the time they need it most. It is my hope that both this website and my Cleveland psychiatry practice can provide clarity on your journey of reestablishing the health of mind and body.
Psychiatric medicine specializes in the treatment of disorders of anxiety, mood, attention (such as adult ADD and adult ADHD), and thought. These are conditions that arise from the interaction between brain disorders and environmental stressors, with symptoms surfacing in many ways such as pain associated with fibromyalgia. Advancing studies of these disorders result in effective therapies that give us reasons to hope that suffering from a condition will be treatable.
If therapy with medication is considered an option, the choices are explained carefully and any side effects both for short and long term treatment are reviewed together. I understand that medical care and medication are costly and will make every effort to provide the most effective and noninvasive therapies to my patients that will lead to an improved quality of life.
Follow-up visits are essential to assess the progress and potential side effects of therapies. I also believe in self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Emotions Anonymous, and other programs that have a proven record of helping my patients.

I am a licensed psychologist (PSY25154) with a focus on depth therapy that gets at root cause rather than just reducing symptoms. I also offer orgonomic (Reichian) therapy as an integrated treatment with talk therapy. This somatic approach does not artificially differentiate between mind and body, psyche and soma, but instead treats you as a whole person.
Want to know if I'm the right therapist for you or someone you care about?
One of the best ways is by finding out for yourself what it's like to talk with me. That way you can determine for yourself if we are a match and we can talk about any questions, concerns, and doubts you might have. Simply give me a call at (310) 866-0440 in Los Angeles or (415) 821-2345 in San Francisco and we’ll get started.

Choosing a psychotherapist is an important--and often difficult--decision. I practice psychotherapy that it is interactive: I respond to what my clients tell me; I offer advice when appropriate; and provide guidance for deeper understanding when this can be helpful.
I offer goal-directed psychotherapy, promoting competence and self-assurance in day-to-day problems; and insight-oriented exploration for greater self-awareness, understanding, and self-actualization. My work with artists and other creative people has taught me to seek creative solutions to problems for all my clients.
I have received advanced training in clinical hypnosis from The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), and bring this as an adjunct to therapy, or as a technique for change on its own.
