An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
My most rewarding experience is when a patient can eat again or when a patient tells me "I am not sore anymore". I also love it when patient's significant others give compliments like "I love their new breath. It doesn't stink anymore!" One of my favorite patients called me as a new patient about 2 years ago telling me. "I have the worst teeth you will ever see." I explained that I see bad teeth and gums everyday. Here we are 2 years later and he LOVES his new implants and ability to chew foods he has not had in years like apples and popcorn.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
I routinely donate to many, many charities. I give for Breast Cancer, Give Kids a Smile, Church, The Boy and Girl Scouts, Red Cross, Humane Society, and many others. I believe that it is important to pay it forward!
What does living in the Alexandria community mean to you?
I love both Alexandria and Waldorf. I stopped practicing in Southern Maryland several years ago and was excited to come back. Alexandria is my home. I love all of the great places to eat. I love that Southern Maryland and Alexandria have such a rich history and the people are just amazing.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
a meteorologist. I love the weather and almost considered this career in college.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
I practiced General Dentistry for 8 years and I loved it. I wanted to focus specifically on the diseases that caused people to have tooth and gum problems and lose teeth.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A perfect outcome is that the procedure improves a patient's life in some way. That may be through eating foods they love, brushing and not seeing blood, having good breath, being able to speak properly again, or just feeling better about themselves and their oral health.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
Anything I can do with the Laser. Laser periodontal procedures have opened a whole new world of health. I am seeing results that are so incredible to me. I love to provide amazing results with the laser.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
I would retire to Lake Tahoe. I would enjoy the Summer at the lake and the Winter on the slopes! AHHHH the life.
