An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
I had a nervous patient who hadn't been to a dentist in 15 years. They needed 4 root canals and a few extractions. After all the work was done the patient was amazed at their new smile. That patient has been happily coming to me every 6 month since then. I find it rewarding that I can take someone's fear away and restore their dental health.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
I enjoy doing dental screenings at a local science center where they organize kids club activities. They allow me to educate the children and the parents and I feel like I can contribute to my local community in some way.
What does living in the Jackson Heights community mean to you?
It means to be in a culturally diverse area where many patients are unaware of the importance of dental health. It then becomes my role to become a advocate for dentistry and to become available to provide dental care.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
Many people feel apprehensive towards dentistry. I feel like many patients feel calm and allow me to treat them. Often they report no discomfort during th anesthesia and state that I have a light touch.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
an educator. Whether in the form of a teacher or otherwise. I feel giving people knowledge is extremely important and currently a large part of my practice.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
A perfect outcome is difficult to describe since there is no such possibility. However in an ideal situation we would have no complications and a quick recovery. More often than not most surgeries go very smoothly.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
My favorite procedure is restoring a smile with veneers or crowns. I find giving someone a beautiful smile gives them confidence and happiness. I also feel I have an eye to maximize esthetics coupled with the patients desire.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
I would like to do more orthodontics. I feel like there are many ways to straighten an individual's teeth and I like to give patients different options.
