An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
The most rewarding experience I have had working with a patient was when the patient saw her new smile for the first time. The gasp of extreme pleasure followed by tears of joy and the rib crushing hug she gave me was a lot of emotion experienced in a very short span of time.
She had not smiled openly in years, because of the embarrasement she felt about her teeth. She now had a smile she could be proud of and was not shy about sharing.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I believe everyone should recieve the same level of care, attention, and level of service no matter who you are.
How often we judge others on their external appearances and igore the gem of a person hiding within.
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
Dentistry is a balance of beauty, shape, color and function. Having always had an interest in fine arts and music has given me a greater
appreciation for nuances, attention to detail, and esthetic harmony. Shapes, colors, textures and visual appeal have always come into play in all of my art and has naturally transferred into the realm of the cosmetic part of my dentistry.
I also tend to be a listener and make every effort to know the patient by asking questions, reading body language
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
The smile makeover is my favorite procedure because of the changes it can make in a persons life. Yes, teeth need to be healthy and function well, but when someone has been emotionally crippled by something some said about their teeth in the past or the ridicule endured as an adolescent, the confidence they gain from having a smile makeover is immeasurable. Sort of like the Mastercard theme......priceless.
What procedure would you like to do more of and why?
Implants. Implants have given our mature population a new lease on life. Dentures no longer need to slip and slide around nor do they have to have goop to keep them in. Implants that retain dentures allow patients to bite comfortably into things they may have avoided previously. Apples are no longer something to admire or to cut into small pieces. It also allows the patient to be more comfortable in social settings. Not having to fear that their denture will slip out at a fancy restaurant.
