An inside interview with LocateADoc.com
Describe the most rewarding experience that you have had working with a patient?
My most rewarding experience by far was repairing a cleft lip on a 4 week old child and then being able to see him grow and proper. I was then invited to attend his high school graduation where he then gave the valedictorian speech to his class.
What is your charity organization of choice and why?
I prefer charities that help young motivated people achieve the goals that they might not have achieved without assistance.
What does living in the Eau Claire community mean to you?
I chose the Upper Midwest because I wanted good schools for my children, a safe clean environment, the ability to work with people that appreciate your efforts and a climate that has four seasons.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
"Dance Like nobody is watching, love like you have never been hurt and work like you don't need the money". Sachel Page
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
Plastic Surgery is awesome because every case is different. You work with the young and elderly. You work with males and females. You must think on your feet and this causes me to be more creative in my work.
Finish this sentence: If I weren't a doctor I would be___.
An Architect.
When (your age) did you first realize you wanted to become a surgeon? And did you experience anything in particular to motivate you to achieve this prestigious goal?
My Grandfather and father were physicians and they indirectly encouraged me to enter the field. Will serving in the military I was fortunate enough to be stationed at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center for a time. It was there that I experienced first hand the ability of the Plastic Surgeon to help many young soldiers with terrible facial and body injuries. It was after this experience that I decided to become a plastic surgeon.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
The perfect outcome is one that produces a natural appearance that has been altered by injury, disease, a unwanted hereditary trait or advancing age. And the result should not exhibit a operated on appearance.
What is your favorite procedure to perform and why?
My favorite procedure is rhinoplasty. I like it because 1.It is a very challenging procedure 2.It requires the matipulation of both bone and soft tissue. 3.Every cas is different 4. The patients are very grateful that you have improved a problem that they have disliked all of their life.
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
Upon retirement I will never completely leave the field of plastic surgery. I would like to teach young plastic surgeons the techniques that I have utilized in my career. My other time would be spent on a golf course or chasing bonefish with a fly rod in my hand and then relaxing and enjoying a nice sunset.
